The Solution to Pollution
I feel that in today’s society a very big problem we face today is pollution, it’s everywhere but most of us are blinded by society to see it. Everywhere you go these days, you see trash everywhere even in the ocean. Pollution has become a worldwide epidemic that we need to focus on now because its destroying our environment and “waste and pollution are expensive. They affect the U.S public adversely in many ways such as increased health costs, growing commitment of tax dollars to clean up and removal operations, and loss of already scarce resources”(Prevention: Key to pollution Control 1996)
The time is now because “the world’s population exceeds 5.2 million people today and is expected to double within the next 40 years if the current 1.6: percent annual growth rate continues” (Prevention: the pollution solution 1993). This means if we don’t do anything soon then our pollution can double to what it is now which will create even more problems for us.
The excessive amount of pollution is causing major problems to our planet and sooner or later it’s going to cause us problems. Such as the ozone layer depleting year after year and it only gets worse. The ozone layer will eventually weaken and will be depleted enough to harm us from the sun’s ultra violet rays, which can cause several illnesses toward us such as skin cancer. Trash and excessive waste is also a huge problem which is damaging wildlife and the environment.
The animals that inhabit planet earth will also have problem by exposing them to deadly chemicals and pollution from the result of the depleting ozone layer. Pollution is endangering every animal including ourselves and harshly endangering those animals which are already in danger of becoming extinct. If we want to save everyone then we have to act NOW.
A good way we can reduce pollution is by going “green”. This means changing the way you live to make the planet cleaner. This includes changing your life style dramatically to help reduce waste and pollution to make our planet cleaner.
There’s thousands of changes we can make and some of them include recycling everything you can when given the opportunity. Car pooling with a friend to help save gas and emissions. Using aluminum water bottles instead of plastic. Changing old light bulbs to more eco-friendly florescent light bulbs. Coming up with new ways of transportation is another thing we can do such as carpooling, walking instead of driving if the destination is close, are good solutions. Planting trees which create oxygen and remove carbon dioxide from the air is another great way to help our planet. Spreading the word around and getting others involved is the most important thing we must do because we cannot do anything by just waiting, we need to act now. Making hybrid cars and electric cars eco friendly is a great idea, having more mpg not only saves you money on gas, but it’s good for the environment too, so we both win. The government should also get involved on car emissions this may include creating more strict laws on cars and how they operate to reduce less fumes.
Other blogs show what the problem is and explain it but most do not come up with solutions on how to fix or reduce the problem of pollution. Overall there are hundreds of things we can do to make the planet healthier but all it takes the effort of people to get the task completed.
